Mother's Day

I am taking this time to wish each of you a Happy Mother's Day. Mother's Day is a day I feel that we celebrate womanhood. Many women I have in my life have not shared in the experience of bearing a child, but are mothers to me and many others. Many of these women have been examples that have helped me be the mother I am today. I am truly grateful to them.




In the Bible we read, “He maketh the … woman … to be a joyful mother of children” (Ps. 113:9).
I am so grateful that I have been blessed with two little ones that make being a "joyful mother" an easy task. I pray they remember their childhood as a joyful one, with a happy and loving mother. I thank my two little ones for teaching me daily on the true joys of life.




"The mother’s image is the first that stamps itself on the … young child’s mind. It is her caress that first awakens a sense of security; her kiss, the first realization of affection; her sympathy and tenderness, the first assurance that there is love in the world” (David O. McKay).
I love this quote. I think back to the day that both of my children were born, and the look that they gave me when they were first put in my arms...today, just as in that day, my one desire for them is the assurance that there is love in the world, but even more so in their home and family.



I will end on this note. Each day I take a look around and see that there are always several things that were not completed or questioning if I told my kids that I loved them enough, and several other "what abouts" and what ifs"...then I stumbled across this quote:

The greatest thing she'd learned over the years is that there's no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one.

This is the life!

That is the man that I married....I never thought I would have a marriage like this one, or a husband as grand as this! He has supported me thru our whole marriage in everything. 3 months in to our marriage I had another ''bout'' with breast cancer. 3 MONTHS...and I started to puke, lose my hair...he never said ONE word. Thru the treatment he pressed forward and carried me right along with him. I had a wonderful job offer, my dream job (or what I thought was my dream job). It meant leaving our home in Utah, selling his ranch and moving to NM...he said, "If this is what you want, then let's do it." So, we did. I was not the stay at home mother type....at least that's what I thought!

Quickly....and I mean quickly...into our marriage we found out we were expecting Tripp...I was in my last bit of chemo, and 8 months into our marriage. He was not supposed to be...according to the docs. Well as you can see he is just perfect. I was on a business trip when I found out we were expecting McNeill...Tripp had JUST turned one....she too proves medicine wrong. 2 beautiful children...we were blessed with. Two miracles....I needed to take a moment, and re-evaluate, ponder on where I needed to be...of course I turned to my biggest supporter...my husband. It took a while, and my boss was extremely understanding..."you need to get things in order FOR YOUR FAMILY." So, my husband who had been the stay at home dad...seriously ladies, I had not seen a load of laundry or folded a towel in almost a year...anything other than cooking (and that's only because I LOVE to cook)...he did it all. It may sound grand...but missing Tripp's first words, McNeill's first steps...some things just can't be relived.

We moved back to my home in NC...some people wondered, "How did you get him to move to NC." Let me tell you, if a man has lived his whole lifein a place where he can play golf maybe 5 months out of the year, then offer him a plac e of year-round golf...he will have your housepacked, the kids, and the u-haul in NC faster than you can imagine!

Moving to NC proved to mean a lifestyle change for us. Ty went back to work, I stayed at home...yeah...a HUGE lifestyle change. I love being with my kids, but also felt like I had lost a lot of myself...so we decided to open Taylored Tots. I wanted to give mothers the opportunity to dress their kids the way they wanted to without having to spend $70 on every outfit. We have all done it, and see that they wear it once....thus the vision of Taylored Tots...gently/like new upscale children's clothing and custom clothing/gifts at affordable prices. Most items are boutique brands or clothing you would have to buy at a trunk showing. No longer. Gorgeous smocked frocks for your little ones at a fraction of the cost....and all of you who have that stuff stored away in the attic now have the opportunity to cash in on it....leading to what??? MORE shopping.

So...this post is about gratitude...live your life in gratitude. I was once told that I would be "privileged to bring children into this world"...remember it is an honor as well. SO... go hug your little ones a bit tighter, and remind yourself how blessed they are to have you in their lives!

Blossoms, Bunnies, and Beautiful Babies!

I think it has been a LONG winter for all of us! I know here in NC we have had one ice storm, as well as a snow storm. I love the snow...it is pretty, and fun for my kids. Another thing I love is the Spring. We had a couple of really pretty days, and spent Sunday at the River. It was gorgeous.

As we sat on the pier, my husband said, "This is why we moved to NC, for days like this." After spending the last few winters in Utah and NM (NORTHERN) the fear of not seeing the ground green until May/June has tormented us.


I have a feeling greener days are ahead! I saw new growth on the rose bushes at the river, and on a few dogwoods. Once it starts to warm up one thing is on my mind...EASTER EGG HUNTS! My sister hosted one for years at the beach, it was so much fun to watch all the kids. When my little boy had his first Easter, I planned and hosted one at our home; first thing on my to do list.... "What will he wear?"

Lucky for each of you, we have been getting in some of the most darling little outfits and dresses. We spent the day yesterday tagging and such. Take a look below and see if there is anything you would like to dress your little one in for Easter or this lovely Spring that is just around the corner. Just a reminder, some items are new, other are GENTLY used. I am VERY particular with my consignors and the items I accept. They have to be in new (with or without tags) or LIKE NEW condition. Either brand name or upscale boutique items are all I accept. I do not put anything in my store I would not put in my own child....and for those of you who know me, know how I am about that...they even go dressed up to the grocery store.

I will post little boys stuff later today as I am in the midst of getting that organized and priced.
